Dr Moir qualified in Aberdeen, Scotland, in June 1975. Early in his career, he spent seven years working as a medical officer and scientific research officer in Papua New Guinea. After completing a MSc degree at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1986, he returned to the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, obtaining his specialist qualification in Australia in December 1994.
After the final two years of specialist training at Nambour General Hospital, Dr Moir commenced private practice at Nambour in 1995, moving to The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital in 2008.
He has been associated with IVF Sunshine Coast since 1996, and clinical director since 1999. IVF and fertility treatments are now provided by QFG Sunshine Coast, and The Fertility Centre Sunshine Coast at Birtinya.
Dr James Moir has been to Amana Hospital on multiple occasions, providing invaluable advice and expertise, and saving lives performing Caecareans.
